The Lure of the Local is a year-long exploration of place and its relationship to the work of the artist. Through field study of Seattle locales and study of a wide variety of literature and films, students in this course develop a deep understanding of what it means to Be Here Now.

Rule 1: Be curious. Ask questions. Read everything you can get your hands on.
Rule 2: Pull everything out of your teacher. Pull everything out of your fellow students. Pull everything out of yourself.
Rule 3: Show up. Do all the work. Go to all the classes.
Rule 4: Try and try again. Forget about winning and failing.
Rule 5: Consider everything an experiment.
Rule 6: Hold yourself accountable.
Rule 7: Pay attention to what has heart and meaning.
Rule 8: Tell the truth without blame or judgment.
Rule 9: Keep things in balance. Take care of yourself.
